Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

  1. The total number of times the police were called out to residential children’s homes in the area covered by your police force in the last three financial years (2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19).  Please break this down by year.
  2. If possible, please also break down these figures by home as follows:
    - Home
    - Total no. of call outs
    Home 1 = 20
    Home 2 = 53

    NB we understand that you are not able to disclose the names or locations of homes.
  3. If possible, please break the figures down by reason for call-out, as follows:
    - Home
    - Total no. of call outs
    - Call outs for missing incidents
    - Call outs for alleged criminal offences 
    - Safeguarding incident
    - Other

I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

 

The following should be noted.

 

A search for all incidents created at any registered children's homes between 1 April 2016 and 31/03/2019 was conducted.  These have been broken down by the type of incident by the closing code.  "Safeguarding incident" has been interpreted as any incident closed as a "Concern for safety" as all incidents have an element of safeguarding.

 

Note that the addresses searched are all current registered children’s home (as at 5 August 2019), however data is based on the assumption these were also registered children's homes at the time of the incident creation (e.g. between 1 April 2016 and 31/03/2019).

 

If you decide to write an article/use the enclosed data we would expect that you to take into consideration the factors highlighted above so as not to mislead members of the public or official bodies or misrepresent the relevance of the whole or any part of this disclosed material.
