Covid Breaches Hospitality Venues - 341/21

Date Responded 07 April 2021

Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

1. Could you help me to access information regarding the number of police call outs in relation to the breaking of COVID rules in hospitality/ restaurant venues between March 2020 and March 2021.

2. I would also like information regarding number of fines issues to hospitality/ restaurant venues during this time period.

I would also like the information to include borough where police were called to regarding these issues during this time period.

In Response:

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the relevant Departments of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is not held by Northumbria Police. Police might be requested to provide support or issue fines to individuals at a venue however we would not fine a company or venue and we would not become involved in the business fine itself.

You may wish to direct your query to the Local Authorities to see if they can assist.
