Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')
As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.
You asked:
Please tell me how often people were stopped for cycling on pavements within the Force area during the most recent year for which figures are available.
In Response:
To provide a definitive response to this query all officers, (in excess of 3,400 currently) would need to be contacted to ask if at any time in the last 12 month time period they had recorded that they had ‘stopped’ anyone for cycling on the pavement. This cannot be achieved within the 18 hour threshold.
However in order to assist we then looked at Home Office code 137/07 Pedal Cycles: riding on footpath to establish if any such offences had been recorded. This brought back nil results for the time period 01/04/2020 through 31/03/2021.
