As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

Why does it take up to 60 days to process a DBS check? This delay can cause financial difficulties to applicants. Is it the process or lack of staff in the department?

In Response:

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Disclosure and Barring Services Department of Northumbria Police.  I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows:

The 60 days timeframe is a National Service Level Agreement for all forces within the UK, which is determined by the Home Office.
