Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')
As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.
1. I'd like to know attendance figures for men's first team football matches this season (17/18) for:
a) Newcastle United games at St. James Park in the Premier League
b) Sunderland AFC games at The Stadium Of Light in the Championship
Attendance figures (for the purposes of this request) are defined as the number of spectators that entered the stadium to watch each match. Please note that this figure might differ from the number of tickets sold, or the 'official' attendance as release by each club after a match.
2. If you do not have this exact figure available, please provide a reasonable estimate based on the methodology that you use internally when planning resources for each match. If not providing exact figures, please also provide an explanation of the methodology used when calculating the estimates.
Please break attendance figures out by club and date.
We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.
Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted within Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held in part by Northumbria Police.
- No information held. We hold no information other than the attendance figures disclosed by the clubs. This information has already been placed in the public domain by previous FOI requests and our responses to those can be found on the Northumbria Police Disclosure Log.
- We do not estimate tickets sold. Historical attendance data or match reports for previous fixtures between the two clubs are taken into consideration when planning any football fixtures.
