Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')
As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.
I wish to know whether the land belonging to (Named person/address) has been authorised for shooting, and if so, to view the Report on its safety, directions of shoot, and what is allowed, which I assume would have been prepared by a Police-trained Firearms Expert for the property. I would like to know what shooting and calibre of weapons is allowed on this land, and to view the map for that land, which should include direction of shoots. I understand the information will be kept at Firearms Licensing at Northumbria Police HQ.
Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted within Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held in part by Northumbria Police.
I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.
We can confirm that these premises have been authorised for shooting up to and including a .308 calibre rifle. We do not request land maps which indicate the shooting direction. A land check would have been made historically, however this is no longer retained. Enquiries are conducted when certificates are renewed. Such enquiries have shown no changes have been made to the land which would impact on authorisation to shoot.
