Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

1. Please state the number of occasions your force detained a person in a police cell under the Mental Health Act in each of the following years:

a) 2014

b) 2015

c) 2016

d) 2017

e) 2018

f) 2019 to 28.01.19.

 

For each case, please provide:

i) The age and sex of the person detained

ii) The length of time (hours and mins) they were detained

iii) If they were held in a cell overnight

 

2. Where a person has been held on more than one occasion in a police cell over the period of the request, please provide the number of occasions that person was held.

This could be provided by stating the number of occasions that a person has been held, paired to a unique identifier to represent the person (person 1, person 2 etc.) as this would not reveal any personal data.

 

3. For incidents in the last six months to 28.01.19, please provide the free text description of the incident held in your recording system.

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.
