Police buildings - 256/18

Date Responded 11 April 2018

Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

1. The location of all buildings currently owned or occupied by your organisation.

2. The tenure of the building i.e. freehold or leasehold.

3. What departments are based at each location i.e. Headquarters, Neighbourhood Policing, Investigations.

In Response:

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted within the Estates Unit of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.

With regards to points 1 & 2 the below exemption has been applied as relevant.

As the information you have requested is accessible by other means I have not provided you with a copy of the information and will rely on Section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.  You should therefore consider this a refusal for your request.

I have provided an explanation to this exemption below.

Section 21 (1) - Information accessible by other means

Information which is reasonably accessible to the applicant is exempt information.

A response to these parts is published as a matter of course and can be found on the Police and Crime Commissioners website under Estates/Asset list of the PCC.  It is therefore freely available to all.  https://www.northumbria-pcc.gov.uk/v2/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Assets-List-of-the-Police-and-Crime-Commissioner-April-2014.pdf

With regards to point 3 see the attached document.  We have compiled this information in the same order as the document found on the OPCCs website, outlined above, for ease.

To note – in this instance we have considered no harm in the information requested being released, however this may not be the case should any further similar information be requested, and exemptions may apply to withhold further detail, specifically at point 3.
