Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')
As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.
We note that since a Freedom of Information Act request sent on this issue in July 2018, the position of a number of police forces has changed. We thus request the following information:
- Please confirm whether your force has a formal policy in place in relation to when victims of or witnesses to crimes who come into contact with the police are referred to the Home Office for immigration purposes;
- If the answer to question 1 is yes, please disclose the name of the policy and outline how long it has been in force; and
- Please provide us with a copy of the policy.
Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted within Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is not held by Northumbria Police.
Northumbria Police do not have any policy to refer victims or witnesses to the Home Office for immigration purposes.
