Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')
As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.
You asked:
- The number of drivers caught over the legal drink-drive limit in your force area, broken down by month for the years 2017, 2018 and 2019 to date.
- The number of drivers caught over the legal drink-drive limit in your force area, broken down by age and gender of the offender, and broken down by year for 2017, 2018 and 2019 to date.
- The three dates of the year that most people were caught over the legal drink-drive limit in your force area, including the number of offenders caught on each of these days, broken down by year for 2017, 2018 and 2019 to date.
In Response:
Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted within Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.
I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.
With regards to 2017 data and up to May 2018 the below exemption is applicable.
As the information you have requested is accessible by other means I have not provided you with a copy of the information and will rely on Section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. You should therefore consider this a refusal for your request.
I have provided an explanation to this exemption below.
Section 21 (1) - Information accessible by other means
Information which is reasonably accessible to the applicant is exempt information.
You have already been provided with information for that time period in your earlier request – FOI 506/18 refers – therefore that information is already available to you. It is also published on the Northumbria Police Disclosure Log, the link to which is below
With regards to the remainder I respond as follows:
The data was filtered for those that failed the breath tests and only includes that data.
The data is not downloaded on a daily basis so there is likely to be data held on the breath test machines within the dates given so data may be subject to change at a later date.
The latest date recorded is the 6th of March 2019.
All the data provided below is from your last submission only – that is from May 1018. There is no overlap/duplicatIon with the previously provided figures.
