Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')
As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

- Please provide a break down year by year for the last 3 years of recorded accidents at the junction of City Way/Monarch Way- Sunderland.
- In addition if you are able to please provide the general nature/cause of the accident if this was established i.e speeding, drink driver, poor road conditions etc.
- To note we are taking ‘the last 3 years’ to be last 3 calendar years.

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.
Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Collision Records Unit of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.
I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.
There have been 5 recordable collisions on City Way j/w Monarch Way, Sunderland in the last 3 years.
2 in 2015 - both due to the weather conditions
1 in 2016 - due to weather conditions
2 in 2017 - one due to weather conditions, one due to driver error.
All collisions were closed no further action.
