Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

I wanted to ask how many sports cars were seized by this force for having no insurance in 2019 and 2020 please. I would like separate figures for both years.

I am defining 'sports car' as a higher-value, performance car built for speed. If you cannot break down your figures to show that, please just let me know the total number of all private cars seized for having no insurance in those years please.

In Response:

I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.

Firstly I have to advise we do not record vehicles as ‘sports cars’ /’high performance cars built for speed‘.

The figures we have been able to provided are for private cars, these do not include Vans/Motorcycles. The figures are for vehicles uplifted where the vehicle was not insured only.

The figures are recorded in financial years and therefore that is what has been provided.

2019-2020 1533 private cars uplifted for only no insurance
2020-2021 1927 private cars uplifted for only no insurance
