Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

With regard to the average speed cameras as currently positioned on the southbound A19 immediately before the TESTOS Roundabout

  1. Please report the distance between the set of SPECS cameras referred to as currently being assumed in calculating the average speeds of vehicles passing through same; and physically measure this distance and report same.
  2. Please report what Authority and/or Company has set up, supervises the operation of, and is responsible for the findings output from the set of cameras as referred to.
  3. Please report information as to the decision-making and reasoning for siting the southernmost cameras adjacent to temporary traffic lights and the entry to the TESTOS Roundabout.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted within Northumbria Police.

1&3. I can confirm that the information you have requested is not held by Northumbria Police.  We hold no information regarding either of these queries, nor are we obliged, or intend to, physically measure this distance and report same.

3. Redspeed or Highways England have responsibility for the cameras and the camera sites.  You may wish to redirect your queries there.
