Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')
As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.
- Please provide the number of offences of speeding vehicles enforced in April 2019 and April 2020. Please provide separate figures for each of the two periods.
- If possible, please provide the maximum speed for each speed limit (20/30/40/50/60 and 70mph) in each period.
Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Fixed Penalty Unit of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.
I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.
To note, figures provided are as dealt with by our per our Fixed Penalty Unit only. Speeding tickets issued directly by a police officer are not included. To include those figures would have exceeded the permitted 18 hour threshold and therefore your request would have been refused under Section 12 due to cost/time constraints. Rather than apply this exemption we have provided what we have been able to, without the application of the refusal.
