Whether you’re heading to the beach with the family, or into town for a drink with friends, we’re here to make sure you can enjoy your summer nights safely.
Our Summer Nights campaign will see police initiatives run across North Tyneside, South Shields and Sunderland beachfronts to improve the experience of visitors to the area and ensure local residents aren’t disturbed. Officers will focus on preventing anti-social behaviour and swiftly dealing with any disorder whilst police cadets will be lending a hand with beach cleans and free bike marking workshops.
We're also making sure that city centre drinkers get home safely and their evening ends well.
In our key party cities we've a Safehaven van for those feeling lost or unwell; our officers work closely with doorstaff to identify offenders and help them to spot signs of vulnerability and the city has invested in taxi marshalls to get you home safely.
Our Summer Nights campaign reminds drinkers to make a plan to get home before they even leave the house. Our message: 'keys, money, phone, plans to get home?' is simple but effective.
