New Mini Police recruits from Byker Primary School
27 Sep | 20:36
Is it just us or are our new recruits getting a bit smaller?
We were absolutely delighted to welcome some new additions to the Mini Police family last Friday!
Ten lucky pupils from Byker Primary School were presented with shiny new uniforms and their very own police badges by Neighbourhood Inspector Kirsty Smith.
Police pup in training, Jinx, was also on hand with handler PC Vicky Lott to personally meet and greet each of our new officers.
Each year, we recruit new members for our Mini Police scheme and this time it was the turn of some children in the east end of Newcastle.
The scheme was set up so young people from all parts of the force area can learn a bit more about what we do.
The kids will also play an important role in tidying up our local community and keeping its residents safe!
Neighbourhood Inspector Kirsty Smith said the new recruits were definitely the cutest members of the Byker team!
She said: “It was an honour to be invited down to such an outstanding school and welcome our latest recruits to the Mini Police family.
“We’ve certainly got a great bunch of pupils signed up for this year - some of them even said on their application how much they care about where they live in Byker.
“So, I can’t wait for them to get involved in helping their local community while they learn all about our police force too!”
Here’s some pictures from the Mini Police assembly last week, alongside school head teacher Linda Bradley.
