Police have charged two men with murder after a body was found at a property in Washington.
Brian Goldsmith, 47, and Luc Barker, 28, have today (Saturday) been charged with the murder of 31-year-old Gavin Moon, who was found dead at an address on Trafalgar Road shortly after 2pm on Tuesday (January 8).
The victim had sustained a fatal stab wound and an investigation was subsequently launched.
Goldsmith of Wayman Street, Sunderland, and Barker of Trafalgar Road, Washington, have been remanded in custody and are due to appear before magistrates in South Tyneside on Monday (January 14).
A 36 year old man, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, has been released with no further action to be taken. A fourth man, aged 46, also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, has been released under investigation.
Officers are emphasising that this was an isolated incident in which those involved were known to each other.
