Northumbria Police Family Fun Day success as public enjoy the fourth annual event for the force
24 Jun | 17:23

Yesterday, Sunday June 23, saw families and visitors enjoying our fourth annual Northumbria Police Family Fun Day, which was held at our Police Headquarters in Wallsend.

The event ran from 10am to 3pm and attendance was its highest ever with over 6,000 people coming along to enjoy the day which saw more stalls, more activities and more opportunities to see what we do and how we do it.

With visits from Police Dogs, our Marine Unit, Firearms officers and our Mounted Section, as well as a bouncy castle, face painting, a climbing wall and birds of prey it proved to be our biggest and best yet.

Northumbria Police’s newly appointed Deputy Chief Constable Debbie Ford, who opened the event, said how important it was for Northumbria to host days like these.

She said: “This year’s event has been excellent and the support and positive feedback we’ve had from the public has been overwhelming.

“These types of events are done with the help of sponsorship and amazing volunteer work, so a big thank you has to go to the charities and partners we work with as well as all the venders. They have all been fantastic and quite frankly we couldn’t do this without them as well as the staff and officers who have dedicated their time to organising and running the day.

“It’s so important for us to be able to offer another platform for people to engage with us and build upon that relationship but also an opportunity to give back to the communities we serve and show them how much their continued support means to us- so thank you.”
