Police keen to speak to man who is believed to have been in area at the time
Police investigating the report of a sexual offence in Newcastle city centre have released an image of a man who may be able to help with enquiries.
An 18-year-old woman reported being raped between 1.30am and 1.55am on Sunday, February 17.
She said she was approached by two men on Newgate Street and taken to a secluded area on Marshalls Court, between the Gate and Tiger Tiger. She then reports one man sexually assaulted her and another man raped her.
A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape and has been released under investigation.
Police have now released an image of a man who it is understood was in the area at the time and may be able to help with enquiries. The man or anyone who knows him is encouraged to come forward.
