The power of youth- how our Cadets and Mini Police shape who we are
02 Jun | 11:21

The fantastic efforts of our Cadets and Mini Police really do contribute to the work we do here in #TeamNP

As part of National Volunteers’ Week we, along with our partners across the region, are celebrating the amazing work volunteers do to support organisations and communities.

Both our Cadets and Mini Police help us reach younger audiences in our communities and break down barriers – show others that our officers are friendly, approachable and there to keep them safe.

Our Cadets work alongside serving police officers, see behind the scenes of our stations, get involved with their local community and they dedicate their time to helping us protect and inform the public.

The Mini Police initiative was launched in 2018 and the Force has since recruited schoolchildren from across the region who give up their spare time to support operational policing, including passing on personal safety tips to class mates and helping officers at public events.

We see every day that the power of youth is outstanding and goes from strength to strength.

The positive impact they have on their colleagues and the public is inspiring and we’re proud to have them all as part of the Northumbria Police family.
